Took a driving tour of the Burren in the morning. Burren is derived from the name for "great rock," not a derivation of "barren," as I speculated, although it certainly is a barren area. Windy and cold with a desolate beauty, as you can see in the photos.
The afternoon boat tour of the Cliffs of Moher was probably ill advised since I turned really green. However, I take full responsibility since it was my idea. Managed to get a few good pics between holding onto the rocking boat's railing and willing myself not to be sick. The little birds you see are puffins. Thousands of them nesting in the cliffs.
Added to the Irish economy by purchasing gloves, hats, sweatshirts, socks, and scarves. To their credit my wool Irish socks kept my feet warm, even when the icy water sloshed over the side of the boat, covering my shoes. Mom however, bundled up so severely she looked like she might have been homeless. There are just some pictures that are best not posted.
