Gathering Home

Our trip to Ireland has been a year in the making. Ireland is someplace my mom, Earline, has wanted to visit for a long time. Anyone who knows me knows that there are very few places in this world that I DON'T want to go! So, when mom asked me if I'd go, I was in.

Later last year we started seeing tourism ads inviting the world to gather in Ireland in 2013. Like these:

So we take that as a good omen, a sign that our trip was meant to be. Don't you just love serendipity?

Although neither of us can claim any known Irish heritage, with surnames of Smith and Grissett (mom) and Crews (me), we do claim, at least for the trip, to be Irish in spirit. In a pinch I guess I could claim Irish-by-affiliation, since my mother-in-law's maiden name was Flannagan...

But from what I've heard and read, the Irish are a warm, friendly people, so I think they'll welcome these Alabama girls "home." At any rate we're both already infatuated with the idea of touring the Emerald Isle!
